Photopolymer Gravure Workshop in Torpoint
Photopolymer gravure is a contemporary intaglio process that uses light-sensitive plates to produce finely detailed prints, with no acid etching involved. Led by Barton Hargreaves — an artist printmaker with an MA from the Royal College of Art and twenty years of teaching experience — this one-day workshop at Devonport Guildhall in Torpoint runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday 17 October. Over the course of the day you'll work through the entire process: preparing artwork, exposing and washing out plates, exploring inking and wiping techniques, and printing a small edition on a professional etching press. The process is particularly well suited to photographs, digital images and drawings. The workshop is open to adults aged 18 and over — complete beginners are welcome alongside practising printmakers looking to extend their skills, and previous intaglio experience, while useful, is not required. Places are limited, and you'll leave with your own prints and detailed process notes to take the technique further.
