Arsenic: What Price Beauty? at Wheal Martyn
A new exhibition opens at Wheal Martyn, the china clay heritage museum set in the landscape north of St Austell, from Friday 16 October. The show brings together work by a contemporary Cornish artist under the title Arsenic: What Price Beauty? — a question that points to the darker side of the materials and processes behind everyday beauty. Wheal Martyn tells the story of Cornwall's clay country, and this exhibition sits within that context, inviting visitors to look more closely at what extraction and industry have cost over the centuries. Worth combining with a wider visit to the museum and its outdoor trails, the exhibition is open from 10am and is well suited to anyone with an interest in art, local history, or the Cornish landscape.
