Lore of the Deep at the National Lobster Hatchery
Dark Cornwall's Lore of the Deep is an Easter 2027 exhibition at the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow, exploring the space between real marine life and the monsters and mythical beings humans have imagined lurking beneath the waves for centuries. The show brings together guest speakers, storytelling sessions and visual art across the Easter holidays. Local artists of all ages were invited to draw inspiration from actual sea creatures — blennies, nudibranchs, jellyfish, anemones and rockpool life — then push them into the realm of legend and folklore. Selected works feature alongside Dark Cornwall's own pieces. A portion of proceeds supports the National Lobster Hatchery's marine conservation work. Check the Dark Cornwall website for exhibition details and artwork submission information, and the Hatchery's own site for tickets.
