Reg Meuross: Fire & Dust — The Woody Guthrie Story
Commissioned by Pete Townshend and performed by acclaimed folk songwriter Reg Meuross, Fire & Dust traces the life of Dust Bowl musician and activist Woody Guthrie through original songs and storytelling. Townshend, who co-produced the accompanying album and played on it, saw the project as drawing a direct line from Guthrie through Dylan to Meuross himself. The show explores themes of racism, inequality and political resilience — drawing deliberate parallels between Guthrie's era and today. Meuross is known for the range and depth of his songwriting, and this is considered one of his most carefully researched works. Doors open at Devoran Village Hall on Saturday 17 October at 7:30pm.
