Ferris & Sylvester at The Cornish Bank, Falmouth
Ferris & Sylvester are a husband-and-wife duo — Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester — who met as solo musicians at London's blues joint Spiritual Bar and have spent the last ten years writing, recording and performing together. Straddling folk, blues, soul and Americana, honest storytelling sits at the centre of all they do. They release music through their own label, Archtop Records, and have built a studio and label hub in the west country. Their debut EP 'Made In Streatham', recorded in the kitchen of their Streatham Hill flat in 2018, topped Spotify's UK Virals chart and set them on a year of touring. They shared the stage with Robert Plant among others, were named in Rolling Stone as 'Americana Acts To Watch' in 2019, and BBC Introducing praised their 'immaculate harmonies' and called them 'one of the best bands of recent years'. Their debut album 'Superhuman' (2022) debuted at number one in the UK's Official Blues Chart and won 'UK Album of The Year' at the 2023 UK Americana Awards. In 2022, a festival trip to Nashville took an unexpected turn when their son was born seven weeks early. They married in Centennial Park, Nashville, with their son just ten days old. Their second album 'Otherness', released in 2024, topped both the UK's Official Folk and Americana charts, drawing praise from Rolling Stone ('a manifestation of strength') and Classic Rock ('an oasis of beauty'), and sent them on a sold-out tour across the UK and Germany. Their third studio album, 'It's A Joy To Be Alive', explores finding hope and joy in the darkest parts of life, drawn from their own experiences in music, marriage and parenthood. Written and recorded in their own studio and released through Archtop Records, the duo describe it as their strongest and most vulnerable work to date.
