Visit to Penzance Jewish Cemetery
The Friends of Penlee House are hosting a visit to Penzance Jewish Cemetery on Wednesday 7 October. Visitors should meet at 2.10 pm outside The Longboat Inn, with the visit beginning at 2.20 pm. All attendees must be on the booking list and will be escorted to the cemetery from the meeting point. The cemetery contains headstones from the Georgian era, including some inscribed entirely in Hebrew. The organisers describe it as the best-preserved Jewish cemetery from that period outside London, and an important part of Penzance's Jewish and local history. A cemetery booklet is included with every ticket. Tickets are £12 for Friends of Penlee House members and £20 for general admission; advance booking is essential through the Friends of Penlee House. Please note that the visit involves a short uphill walk on steep and uneven ground.
