Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine
Morgan, a very experienced dressmaker, leads this back-to-basics sewing machine workshop at LilyBoo in Lostwithiel on Friday 9 October at 10am. It is open to beginners and to anyone who sewed years ago and wants to refresh their skills. The session starts with the basic functions of the machine — tension and changing stitches — then moves on to threading and winding a bobbin, followed by practice time with your own machine. Morgan goes through everything at a relaxed and steady pace. If time allows, the group will also look at sewing different fabrics and different seam finishes. All materials are provided; bring your own machine with its foot, pedal and lead. The workshop takes place on the upstairs floor at LilyBoo, reached by a steep flight of stairs. Tea, coffee and a bathroom are available once you are up there.
