Helston Flora Day
Helston Flora Day is one of Cornwall's most distinctive folk festivals, held each year on 8 May when dancers take to the streets of the town from early morning. Couples in formal dress — top hats, morning suits, and floral gowns — dance through gardens, homes, and shops to the familiar Floral Dance tune, following routes that wind through the heart of Helston. The day unfolds across several dances at different times, drawing both locals and visitors of all ages. It is a genuinely community-rooted event: residents open their houses, businesses take part, and the whole town organises itself around the celebrations.
