Life upstairs and downstairs at Graylands

Join Cornish Bard Brian Oldham at Liskeard Public Hall for an illustrated talk on the history of Graylands, a Victorian mansion built in 1855. He traces the lives of those who lived and worked there — from the families who owned it to the domestic staff who kept it running — through its various uses right up to the present day. The talk is part of Liskeard Unlocked, a Heritage Open Days programme shining a light on everyday working life through the ages. It sits alongside a companion guided walk on Sunday 13th September, where Brian leads a tour of Liskeard sharing stories of employers and employees from the 1891 census, ending inside a former Victorian private school. Both events are free, but spaces are limited and booking is essential — call Visit Liskeard on 01579 349148 or email [email protected].
