Rock Glazes with Matthew Blakely at the Leach Pottery
Led by potter Matthew Blakely, this five-day practice-based course at the Leach Pottery in St Ives is aimed at those wanting to deepen their understanding of ceramic materials. The week focuses on the geological side of glaze-making — examining the characters and possibilities of different rocks and how to test them for use in pottery. It's a hands-on crash course in geology for potters, suitable for those ready to challenge and expand their skills. Alongside the course, Matthew is also giving an afternoon talk, Geology for Potters, on Wednesday 11 November, which can be booked separately.
