Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Level 1 Training, Redruth
Barnardo's Safer Futures is running this free, in-person foundational course at Redruth Library & Information Service on Thursday 26 November, starting at 9:00 am. The session runs for three and a half hours and is aimed at people with no or little previous training or professional experience in domestic abuse and sexual violence, including those who work indirectly with people affected by it. It also serves as an introduction to the organisation's Level 2 course. Topics covered include: what domestic abuse and sexual violence is (including links with child sexual exploitation), coercive control, the impact of abuse on victims and how to recognise signs and indicators, stalking, harassment and honour-based abuse, information sharing, and how to carry out routine enquiry and signpost people to specialist support. This training is funded only for individuals who work and/or reside in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Each attendee must register individually and use their own device. Participants are expected to keep their camera on throughout. Cancellations can be made via Eventbrite or through the original booking confirmation.
