Eating challenges and live music at The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn in Porthleven hosts an afternoon of food challenges and fundraising, with all proceeds going towards the Porthleven Lights. The action starts at 2:30pm for sign-ups, with a chilli eating competition at 3:30pm working up through the Scoville scale to a Carolina Reaper, followed by a raw onion eating contest at 4:15pm. Whether you fancy competing or just watching from a safe distance with a pint, there's plenty to enjoy. Prizes are on offer for the winners of both challenges. Live music from The Budgie Smugglers rounds off the afternoon from 5pm. The event takes place outside weather permitting, moving indoors if needed. Competitors can sign up on the day from 2:30pm or reserve a spot in advance by calling or texting Mike.
