Make Time: clock-making workshop, Bodmin
Make Time is a free clock-making workshop held on Sunday 1 November at Discovering42's new makerspace in Bodmin, celebrating John Arnold — a Bodmin-based clockmaker born in 1736 who became one of Britain's most important precision watchmakers, developing the marine chronometers that helped sailors calculate their position at sea. On the day, you can design and decorate your own working clock to take home and try hands-on experiments exploring the science of time. All materials are provided, though the organisers welcome donations of small toys and trinkets — broken or missing parts included — for use in the builds. The session is also a chance to look around Discovering42's new makerspace, where tools and equipment are available for community use. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential via the Discovering42 website.
