Mining Landscape World Heritage Site at Twenty

A day of talks and lunchtime music at Calstock Arts on Saturday 28 November, marking twenty years of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. The programme runs from 10am into the late afternoon and includes a pasty. Lesley Strong, WHS Stakeholder Engagement Officer, opens with a talk on twenty years of connection and collaboration. Ben Dancer, WHS Planning Officer, speaks on planning within the World Heritage Site and its setting. Emma Trevarthen, Strategic Historic Environment Officer at Cornwall Council, covers managing rural heritage in mining landscapes. Andrew Thompson, Independent Heritage Consultant, gives a talk on the Bedford Estates. Rick Stewart, Independent Mining Historian, explores mining history in the World Heritage Site. Robert Waterhouse, Independent Archaeologist, addresses Morwellham Quay and the Tavistock Canal. At lunchtime, Tavy Tarrs with Clive Charlton perform ballads related to the World Heritage Site. Tickets are £21, which includes a pasty.
