The Art of the Character — writing workshop with Sara Bodinar
Sara Bodinar leads this two-hour in-person writing workshop at Newlyn Art Gallery on Saturday 3 October at 2pm, part of the Golow Lulynn Oct 26–27 Creative Writing Workshops collection. The workshop costs £25 and has sold out, though a waiting list is available — get in touch if you would like to be added. Drawing on techniques from theatre-making, screenwriting and fiction, the session explores character through desire, behaviour, contradiction, secrets and change. Practical exercises are designed to push characters beyond the obvious, and observation is used as a starting point for character work. Participants leave with a bespoke character pressure map and a five-moment character arc. An optional extra half-hour at the end is available for questions or advice on individual projects. Places are limited.
