A talk on the architect of Truro Cathedral

A talk on the architect of Truro Cathedral

🗓Fri 18 Sep 2026 · 7:00 PM

John Loughborough Pearson is one of Victorian Britain's most significant architects, yet his reputation has long been overlooked. Best known locally as the man who designed Truro Cathedral, he also shaped some of England's finest Gothic Revival churches and served as Surveyor to Westminster Abbey. This illustrated talk, held in the Old Cathedral School Building, sees Dr Patrick Newberry MBE — a Truro Cathedral trustee and architectural historian — make the case for Pearson's rightful place in the story of British architecture. Doors open at 6:45pm, with the talk beginning at 7:15pm, followed by Q&A. Tickets include a complimentary drink on arrival.
