The Long Run — an 850km Balkans adventure talk
David Myers took on one of Europe's most demanding self-supported runs — 850km through the Dinaric Alps, crossing from Croatia through Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo. He encountered breathtaking scenery and warm hospitality, but also the lingering complexity of a region still shaped by war and division. The journey was far from straightforward: accidental border crossings, lightning storms, abandoned villages, snowfields, and a near-miss with Europe's most venomous snake all featured along the way. On Friday 13 November at St Budeaux Library, Myers brings this raw and remarkable story to life in an evening that suits anyone drawn to adventure, long-distance running, or the lesser-known corners of the Balkans.
