The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay
This documentary follows the Carbis Bay Crew, a group of Cornish men who have spent over three decades descending mine shafts, wading through flooded passages, and squeezing through tight tunnels beneath the county they call home. What looks like adventure turns out to be something quieter and more personal — a way of stepping away from the pressures of everyday life. Directed by Dan Simpkins and filmed over two years, the film weaves together the physical reality of mine exploration with the crew's own stories about camaraderie, stress, and men's mental health. It won Best Adventure and Exploration Film at the Kendal Mountain Festival 2025. Screening at Calstock Arts on Thursday 15 October, doors open at 6.45pm with the film starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 in advance or £7 on the door.
