The Lovers of Invention at the Cornish Bank
The Lovers of Invention are an eight-piece South London band dedicated to Frank Zappa's music, and they're bringing their set to the Cornish Bank in Falmouth on Friday 30 October at 7:30pm. Led by Ben Vize on keyboard, the group draws on some of the finest young UK jazz talent to recreate Zappa's distinctive blend of jazz, rock, blues and psychedelia. The set spans Zappa's 1970s output — from well-known pieces like Cosmik Debris and Peaches En Regalia through to deeper cuts from Joe's Garage. Alongside faithful renditions of the originals, the band lean into the improvisatory spirit that defined Zappa's live performances. A pub setting suits the music well: loose, playful, and a little unpredictable. If you've never had the chance to hear Zappa played live, this is a good one to catch.
