The Perisher is one of the tougher fixtures in the Sailing SW winter series — a two-hour pursuit race designed to test both fitness and seamanship. Held at Porthpean Sailing Club on the south Cornwall coast near St Austell, the race is open to boats with a Portsmouth Yardstick rating between 745 and 1248, meaning a decent spread of craft can line up together. Pursuit format means faster boats set off last, so the finish tends to be closer and more competitive than a standard race.
