Verification of Death Training
Cornwall Hospice Care is running a face-to-face Verification of Death training session at St Julia's Hospice in Hayle on Tuesday 17 November, from 1pm to 4pm. The course is open to registered Healthcare Professionals and to nominated Healthcare Support Workers from care homes providing end of life care. It is an evidence-based, clinical course covering the knowledge and competencies necessary to verify death. Topics include policy, procedure and legal framework; recognising contraindications and the role of the coroner; procedural differences between an expected and unexpected death; respecting the dignity, religious and cultural needs of the patient, carer and family; and demonstrating the verification of death process through simulated practice. The session counts as three hours towards Continuing Professional Development, and a certificate is awarded on completion. Tickets are £40. Refunds are available up to seven days before the event.
