Wheal Treasure Stitch Club
The Wheal Treasure Stitch Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Cornish Craft Barn in Blackwater, running from 10am to 4pm. All skill levels and projects are welcome — members work on quilting by machine or by hand alongside others looking to share ideas and offer guidance to each other. It is not a tutored session, but the room draws on a good deal of collective expertise. The group can arrange short demonstrations or mini projects from time to time if that is something members want. Lunch is available from the cafe at a 10% discount, and there is plenty of parking outside. Help is on hand to get machines upstairs to the training room, and several Janome quilting machines are available to borrow for the day — book ahead so enough can be set aside. Sessions are paid quarterly in advance at £17.50 each (£52.50 for three). If you miss a session, the credit can be used at any other Wheal monthly group, or carried over within a six-month period. If you would prefer to try a single session before committing, that costs £20, which is also the price for occasional one-off attendance. Attend as much of the day as your other commitments allow.
