Barnardo's Safer Futures domestic abuse perpetrator training
Delivered by Barnardo's Safer Futures, this Level 3 (Specialist Knowledge) full-day course runs from 10am to 4pm at Cornwall Council Building, Truro. It is designed for professionals who work directly with individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, particularly those who are using abusive behaviours. The course explores Coercive Control and the typologies of domestic abuse to support good assessments of who is at risk, with a particular focus on situations involving counter allegations. It aims to increase understanding of Gender Based Violence, develop knowledge and skills for assessing counter allegations, introduce practice tools for working with those who use harmful behaviours, and increase confidence in practising personal and professional boundaries. For those with little or no prior training in this subject, Barnardo's Safer Futures recommend first completing their Level 2 'Understanding Coercive Control' and Level 3 DASH courses. This training is funded only for individuals who work and/or reside in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly; out-of-county bookings will be cancelled. Each attendee must register individually using their own device, and cameras are expected to remain on throughout the session.
