World record surf attempt at Great Western Beach
The current world record for the most people riding a single wave at the same time stands at 110 surfers, set in Cape Town back in 2009. On 19 September, Great Western Beach becomes the stage for a serious attempt to beat it, organised by earthwave.surf. All you need is a board and a willingness to paddle out — whether you've been surfing for decades or just enjoy being in the water, everyone is welcome to take part. This is a rare chance to be part of something genuinely historic, right on Newquay's doorstep.
